Two Men Plead Not Guilty in Milford Shooting

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Two Milford men involved in a triple shooting in Milford entered not guilty pleas and are being held without bail following their arraignment in Milford District Court yesterday.  Michael S. Rooney, of 24 Depot Street, and 27-year old Keith Putnam, of 1 Pheasant Circle, are both charged with assault with intent to murder and assault with a dangerous weapon, among other charges, and will remain in custody until at least Thursday when they’ll head back to court for a dangerousness hearing.  An emotional Putnam claims he was defending himself and his girlfriend as he argued with Rooney over prescription drugs.  Rooney then allegedly pulled out a handgun and both men were struck as their fight escalated.  Rooney's father, Michael E. Rooney, who lives at the apartment where the incident took place, along with Putnam and his girlfriend, was shot in the foot during the altercation on Friday night.  The younger Rooney claiming his dad was being abused by his tenants.
