Elizabeth Giordano is a Wrentham, MA native who lost her life at the age of 24 in a fatal car accident caused by distracted driving in May of 2009. Whether she was waiting tables at the Colonial Blackington Inn and Café Assisi, attending classes at King Phillip Regional High School, Curry College, or later working at Enterprise, she made a positive impact on every life she touched. A truly selfless individual, Elizabeth put others first which is why she pursued a degree in sociology and psychology. This race is a natural extension of her mission to improve the lives of those around her and through our safe driving initiative we are asking our participants and supporters to pledge never to text and drive.
On April 30, 2017, The Hummingbird Foundation is honoring her legacy with a 5K & 10K Walk/Run in Wrentham, MA. Proceeds from the race will go towards scholarships for distracted driving and crash prevention training through the Drive In Control Foundation, plus scholarships for local high school seniors, and a scholarship for a current student at Elizabeth’s alma mater, Curry College.
