Milford's Veterans Day Parade Information

Milford Veterans’ Agent, John A. Pilla has announced that the annual Veterans’ Day Parade will be observed on Friday, November 10, 2017.

Assembly of divisions will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Stop & Shop parking lot adjacent to the ’99 Restaurant and step-off will be @ 10 a.m.

Upon leaving the assembly area, the parade will march up e. Main Street to Calzone Park where a brief ceremony will take place.  It will then continue up Main Street to Draper Memorial Park. 

At the conclusion of the parade, the Citizens for Milford will have a ceremony in Draper War Memorial Park to present the Medal of Liberty to the next-of-kin of eight Milfordians who were killed in action.

This year’s Grand Marshal is Eric Ruscitti, current commander of the Italian-American War Veterans post of Milford.  Ruscitti is a graduate of Milford High School and Quinsigmond Jr. College with an Associate’s Degree in Business.  Ruscitti is a U.S. Marine veteran who was stationed state-side as a Civil Engineer for the majority of his enlistment along with several deployments to countries outside the U.S.

Ruscitti currently works at Dell/EMC as a Senior Project coordinator for new products.  His main mission as commander of ITAM is to help veterans and their families who may be in need.  He is currently working on a project to bring all of the military service organizations to his Post in order to better coordinate events.

Also participating in the parade will be members of the various service organizations. Representing the Disabled American Veterans will be Cmdr. Steven Priest; American Legion, Cmdr. James Webber; American Legion Auxiliary, Pres. Mary Monroy; Italian American Veterans, Cmdr. Eric Ruscitti and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Cmdr. Stephen Petak.

Also invited are local town officials, State Representatives, the Police and Fire Department, members of the Montgomery Lodge of Masons, Milford High School band under the direction of Nadine Pomeroy and Jill Langford, Milford Middle School Band under the direction of Jason Samiagio, Nipmuc Regional Band under the direction of Simon Harding and making up the majority of the parade will be both the Boys and Girls Scouts along with their leaders and parents.
