Milford Police Officer Rus Poisant was injured on New Year's day by a man he was attempting to help. Poisant answered a 911 call from a resident of Paula Road indicating there was a Hispanic male indicating another man was going to shoot him with a gun. Poisant asked the Hudson man how he could help. The man then lunged at a passing car and as Poisant went to stop him, the man punched Poisant in the throat. During the struggle the man, identified as 35 year old Argue Silveira, was gouging at Poisant's eye and choking him. As Poisant was radioing for help, the suspect bit him. Upon arrival, assisting officers found Poisant on top of Silveria. He could not access any of his protective equipment because the suspect had his legs wrapped around him. Poisant suffered serious injuries to his airway and cuts and abrasions.
Silveira is charged with attempted murder, assault and battery by strangulation, assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with serious bodily injury and nine other offenses.
