Milford Falls in Game 1 to Northbridge
Milford’s season will be on the line tomorrow at Northbridge Middle School after they dropped game 1 of the best of 3 series to the top seeded Post 343 Friday night at Fino Field by a final of 3-2. Teddy Carey was outstanding for Northbridge going the distance and allowing just one earned run on four hits while striking out ten Post 59 players. Blake Hill accounted for both Milford runs in what was a difficult night for the 59 team thanks to Carey. Hill was able to get to Carey early though with a double in the second inning and then Kyle Nocera brought him home with an RBI single to give Milford a 1-0 lead. Starter Alex Croteau kept the lead for Milford until the 5th inning when Matt Nichols doubled home Isaiah Alvarado who had started the inning off with a bunt single. Then in the top of the 6th Milford unraveled a bit as Northbridge scored 2 runs off of Croteau partially aided by a key error from his battery mate Michael Ryan. Northbridge did have to sweat it out in the bottom of the 7th as Milford put their first two batters aboard and Hill scored on an RBI single from Aiden Wilde to pull the 59 team to within one run. Carey would settle down to retire Drew Wilde and Andrew McMillan to end the game and secure the key road win for Northbridge as Fino field has not been kind to them historically. The Post 343 club will now host Milford tomorrow at 1 p.m. with a chance to advance to the Zone 4 playoff finals. Milford must find a way to win two straight at Northbridge. Game three if necessary will be immediately following game two today. Game two airs live beginning at 12:45 on WMRC and www.wmrcdailynews.com.
