By MyFM's Rick Michaels - A design public hearing to review plans to improve safety and the flow of traffic at the intersection of Routes 16 and 140 in Milford was held between state officials and residents last night. The State Department of Transportation is preparing for the start of a proposed three-million dollar road improvement project which would begin at Water Street on Route 16 up to the, what many feel is a very busy and bad, intersection near the Milford Regional Medical Center with the project ending just over the town line on Route 16 in Hopedale. The project would include new traffic signals and dedicated turning lanes at the intersection of Routes 16 and 140 which has seen its’ share of crashes over the years. Both Milford and Hopedale, along with Mass-DOT, will work to acquire the needed rights-of-ways from private and public lands so the project can move forward. It’s not expected to begin for another two-years.
