By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The decision has been made to close the Milford Catholic Elementary School ending almost 140-years of catholic education in Milford. The announcement came in the form of a letter released yesterday morning by the Chairman of the School Board, Mike Walsh, who said it was with regret, and despite efforts by parents to enroll new students and raise funds and after consultation with Bishop Robert McManus of the Worcester Diocese, Milford Catholic will close its doors for good. Walsh says when the financial concerns were made public in early May parents were quick to take action and try to keep the school open. There was a positive feeling and they were confident, despite the short time frame. Walsh says both enrollment and the fundraising efforts fell well-short of what was needed to keep Milford Catholic open for another school year. He thanked parents, faculty and staff for their commitment to the school as they will now work to transfer the students to other schools.
