Medway Library December Events for Kids and Families

Medway Public Library December Youth Events


Every Tuesday and Wednesday11:00 a.m.

Newborns – 3 year-olds are invited to this drop-in program of stories, fingerplay and songs accompanied by mountain dulcimer. 
Children must be accompanied by parent/caregiver.



Every Thursday and Friday11:00 a.m.

Ages 10 months-5 years.*   A drop-in story time with songs, stories, and craft. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver.  

* These ages are flexible! If you think your children will enjoy story time, please bring them.


PAWS to Read 

Wednesday, Dec. 7th, 6:00 to 7:15 PM

Interested in reading to a cuddly friend? Sign up by calling 508-533-3217 or come in and talk to our staff at the Circulation desk to register.

Each child will get a 15 minute one-on-one reading session with our wonderful visiting therapy dogs.  Children must be able to read independently as this is not a tutoring session but rather an opportunity to practice reading skills with a good listener. Grades 2-6. 


Artful Thursdays

Thursday, Dec. 1st, 4:00 PM

Join Miss Lucy and a local artist for a hands-on workshop about style and expression. This month we will be exploring the fingerprint art of Ed Emberley. First Thursday of the month. Ages 7 and up. Register in advance.


Coloring Clubs!

Relax and color at the library, we provide the supplies, you bring the creativity. No registration. 

Family Night Monday, December 5th6:00-7:30 PM Parents and kids of all ages. Popcorn will be served. We’ll be done before bedtime!

Adult Coloring Club Monday December 12th7-8 PM Grown-ups only. Feel free to bring a dessert to share.

Just for Teens Monday, December 19th3:30-6:00 PM Take over the teen tables, Miss Lucy will provide awesome pages to color (any requests?), a variety of pencils, pens, markers to try, and some snacks! 



Elementary Book Club

Thursday, Dec. 15th, 4:00 PM

Join us for fun book talk and an activity based on the story. Best for Grades 2-4 but anyone who has read or listened to the book is welcome! Copies of the book are available at the Circulation Desk. Register in advance. This month’s book is Tales of Bunjitsu Bunny by John Himmelman.



Half-Day Craft!!

Tuesday, Dec. 13th1-5 PM

Come to the library after school for Star Wars activities and crafts that you can make and take home! Drop-in program.


Hamilton Throwdown

Monday, December 12th, 7:00 PM

Do not throw away your shot to prove your mettle as a Hamilton fanatic. Are you a Hamilton fan who knows every word to "Guns and Ships", or are you just listening to this award-winning musical for the first time? Join fellow Hamiltonians at the Library to answer trivia questions, play games, and enjoy the fantastic music. 

This program is for teens, registration is preferred but not required. 

Coding for Minecraft

Friday, December 30th, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Learn how to summon lightning bolts with a bow and arrow or build giant rainbows in the Minecraft world with code! Spawn farm animals or monsters instantly and have fun "modding" your world! (This workshop introduces coding concepts by showing students how to build or change (e.g. mod) the game using the Javascript or Python programming language. The set-up is easy for beginners, challenging for experienced gamers and fun for everyone! Presented by the Rhode Island Computer Museum.

Ages 8-12. Register in advance.
