By MyFM's Rick Michaels - A Hopkinton man is sentenced in federal court in Boston for evading federal income taxes and defrauding the state of millions of dollars in connection with the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products. 56-year old Raza Ali pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to commit wire fraud and laundering of money and one count of making a false statement on a federal income tax return. Ali will serve one-year and a day in prison. He was one of three men who operated a wholesale business that sold tobacco products bought in Pennsylvania where no excise taxes are imposed on tobacco products. They, at times, had bought hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of tobacco products and then sold them in Massachusetts.
