Gary J. Nicholson 61, of Mullins, South Carolina, died suddenly, Friday October 14, 2016 at Carolinas Hospital System in Marion, South Carolina after being stricken ill at home. He was the beloved husband of Karalyn J. Hurley.

Born August 16, 1955, in Milford, a son of the late William H. and Eileen (Pisani) Nicholson and also his step father Raymond Dangelo, he was a former longtime Franklin and New Hampshire resident before moving to South Carolina in 2014.

He was raised and educated in Franklin and worked as a machine operator for Bella Construction.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, his dogs, gardening, and fishing and was always willing to help a neighbor or friend in need.

Gary served his country honorably in the United States Army and was discharged in 1978. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 sons; Jamie Nicholson of Franklin, Ken Nicholson and his wife Lori of Bellingham, Bryan Nicholson of Boston and his step son Dylan Foskett of Vermont, 2 brothers, Wayne Nicholson of Franklin, Raymond Dangelo, Jr. of South Carolina, 2 sisters, June Bussey of Franklin and Penny Nicholson of Seabrook, New Hampshire. Also surviving are his grandchildren Joey, Bryson and Spencer Nicholson, as well as his close friend and nephew Aaron Bussey, and many other nieces, and nephews

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Monday Oct. 24th at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 10AM.

Interment with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Calling hours are Sunday Oct. 23rd, from 2-5PM at the funeral home.
