By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Franklin Town Council, with three new members, were sworn-in last night before the Council's regularly scheduled meeting. Patrick Casey, Eamon McCarthy-Earls and Melanie Hamblen were voted in last week. First order of business last night, the Council reorganized with Matthew Kelly being re-appointed as Chairman, Tom Mercer as Vice-Chair and Glen Jones will serve as clerk. All voted in unanimously with no discussion. The councilors were also unanimous in appointing a new Finance Director/Comptroller, who currently works for the town of Hopkinton in that capacity. Christopher Sandini saying he’s very excited about working in Franklin, calling it a wonderful community. The Council also approved an expansion of the Veterans War Memorial at Town Common. Fundraising will be begin. Town Administrator Jeff Nutting revealed the new growth revenue, totaled 475-thousand dollars, which he suggested and the council agreed, to put into the Operating Budget Stabilization fund citing expected financial difficulty in the next fiscal year saying revenues are not expected to keep pace with demand for services.
