Franklin Town Council Meets Tonight

By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Franklin Town Council will meet tonight at which time members are expected to appoint a new Treasurer/Tax Collector for the town following the decision earlier this year by long-time Treasurer/Tax Collector Jim Dacey to retire from the position.  Franklin Town Administrator Jeff Nutting says following an extensive search process to find a replacement, the interview committee unanimously recommends the current Assistant Treasurer/Tax Collector, Kerri Bertone, step into the position.  Town Council members will also discuss possible changes to the Fiscal Year 2018 budget proposal including 86-thousand dollars for police wages, with two-officers set to retire next spring citing state aid numbers.  There’s a request to add 60-thousand dollars to the school budget and a capitol request for using 550-thousand dollars from the hotel tax for roads and sidewalk infrastructure improvements.
