By MyFM's Rick Michaels - A number of Capitol items were approved by the Franklin Town Council last night with the items for the most part being funded out of the town’s free cash which totals about three-point-six million dollars. Franklin town councilors approved money to purchase four new police cruisers, trucks for the Department of Public Works and money to help with the future purchase of a new fire engine. Other items were left on the list. They could be funded after the final snow and ice removal costs are known. That’s also funded out of free cash. Franklin Town Administrator Jeff Nutting also informing the Council the Delcarte playground off Pleasant Street, which was covered by a huge tarp for the winter, will be taken down and replaced over the next few months. A recent check revealed more cracks in the structure and upon inspection with the company that installed the playground. It was determined the best move is to replace it and at no cost to the town.
