Former Jets Linebacker David Harris Agrees to Two-Year Deal With Patriots

By MyFM's Jake Archer - Just when you think the New York Jets have hit rock bottom, they find a way to fall even lower. They admittedly are doing the right thing now by cleaning house and getting rid of what was a very disappointing team, but they still can’t like what happened today. Last year’s leading tackler for the Jets, veteran linebacker David Harris, has signed on with the New England Patriots for two years and $6.75 million.

The Jets had cut Harris, along with other older players, in an attempt to blow up their roster and start rebuilding. Harris was a heart and soul type of player on the Jets defense and a great piece in their locker room. I wonder if they ever thought he’d turn right around and go sign with their rival the Patriots, to stay in the AFC East and wreak havoc.

Now not only are the Jets staring down the barrel of an atrocious season because of their awful roster, they also have to deal with the fact that Harris will be contributing to another Super Bowl run with the Patriots. He’s just the latest in a long list of great pickups this offseason by New England and he fortifies a position that they may have needed more help with.

Despite the fact that the Pats could’ve used Harris, I never saw them adding him. They’ve already done so much this offseason to reload and at this point it’s comical how good they are on paper. The best part is that they have also depleted their division rivals by adding a third player from the AFC East. It’s tough not to be excited for football to roll around and it’s even tougher not to have high expectations, even by Patriots standards.
