By MyFM's Rick Michaels - It came as a surprise to many motorists and prompted a few calls to Milford Police yesterday morning saying the Fiske Mill Bridge renovation project was apparently getting underway with a detour in place. Something that wasn’t supposed to begin until Monday. The only indication of the change was on the Upton town website informing residents the start date was yesterday for the two-month long project. The bridge spans the Mill River and separates the towns of Milford and Upton, who are splitting the cost of repairing the small bridge. Renovation work will include replacing the existing bridge deck and installing new guard rails. The work will require the bridge to be closed, with detours now set up and in place. The project will mean the Fiske Mill Bridge will be closed for the summer, hopefully re-opening in the week leading up to the Labor Day weekend.
