By MyFM's Rick Michaels - State Representative Brian Murray of Milford went before the Joint Committee on Education to testify in support of a bill to establish funds to provide for increases in English Language Learner programs in school districts across the state. Murray is the House sponsor of the measure. He says Milford and other school districts are financially struggling to fund English Language programs for the increasing population of English Language Learners. The bill seeks to provide additional cost reimbursement for any school district that has experienced at least a 20-student increase in the number of students who are classified as English Learners. Representative Murray says the additional funds will help increase programs and improve the quality of existing programs.
