By MyFM's Rick Michaels - Milford Police continue to conduct distracted driving traffic enforcement in a number of locations around town handing out several citations. Thanks to a state grant, like many towns, Milford is cracking down on drivers who have become distracted behind the wheel, especially because of reading or sending a text from their cell phones, issuing a number of citations since the traffic enforcements began about a week ago. Several more citations were given out yesterday morning as Milford Police set up traffic enforcements at various locations.
Coming up at the end of the month a 5k and 10k Run/Walk will be held in Wrentham to remember a young woman who was killed almost eight-years ago by a distracted driver. The Hummingbird Run is being held in remembrance of 24-year old Elizabeth Giordano who lost her life in a fatal car accident caused by a distracted driver. Proceeds from the race will benefit scholarships for distracted driving and crash prevention training. Giordano graduated from King Philip High School in Wrentham and Curry College. The Run/Walk is being held at the Crackerbarrel Fairgrounds in Wrentham, on Sunday April 30th beginning at 10am.
