The Town of Bellingham and MAPC are undertaking an economic development initiative to focus on promoting new development and redevelopment in strategic growth locations in town and developing a unifying and consistent vision for the town. An economic development vision is essential for understanding how to best approach industrial, commercial, and mixed-use development in Bellingham's three commercial areas.
MAPC staff, town officials, and interested stakeholders are currently distributing a town-wide economic development survey. This survey can be found at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BellinghamEconDev or on the lower left hand side of the Town website at www.bellinghamma.org.
Additionally, Bellingham officials and MAPC are seeking residents’ input for an economic development plan on Thursday, January 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Bellingham Public Library. Officials are asking for information about what residents would change to stimulate Bellingham’s economy, including their insights into how to create jobs, support businesses, and strengthen the community as a whole. The drop-in session will feature a presentation by a representative of MAPC on goals of the project, and the current state of economic activity in town.
All the input and guidance provided through the survey and at the workshop will be included in an Economic Development Action Plan. This plan will evaluate the town’s opportunities in a holistic manner that will guide the town’s goals and priorities for the next 5-10 years.
