By MyFM's Rick Michaels - The Interchange that serves as a major crossroads for commuter traffic, and is used by nearly half of freight truck traffic entering Eastern Massachusetts, is in line for a major makeover and for the next two-nights informational meetings will be held in Hopkinton and Westboro. The purpose of the Mass Pike/Route 495 interchange improvement project is to improve safety, the flow of traffic and creating a new design to accommodate future traffic growth in the area. This interchange is a high-crash location during the most recent four-year study. A report showed there were 460-crashes, many occurring when traffic is backed up onto Route 495 in Hopkinton and Westboro. Removal of the toll booths has eased some of the congestion but a new layout is being planned and coming up next month in Hopkinton and Westboro public meetings will be held to get input from residents and provide more details. In Hokpinton, the informational session will take place tonight at 7pm at the Middle School and tomorrow night in Westboro at 7pm at the Town Hall.
